Quote from your Book | Favorite Quote This is from my first sci-fi dystopian thriller, A Hunter’s Blood: “I know I can’t see you through a computer or common sight,” Drakx whispered. “But I will kill you. I did it before. I don’t have to see you to fill this room with bullets. Even the invisible get wet when it’s raining.”
As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
When I became coherent, the entire astronaut, fireman cliche went away. I could draw, and I was gifted with imagination, so I wanted to become a comic book artist.
When did you write your first book and how old were you?
My first book was a comic I crafted in high school, but that was just a hobby and way to get through the daunting chemistry class. After I became a salesperson for 21 years, I actually wrote the book and published it in 2007
How did you begin writing? Did you intend to become an author, or do you have a specific reason or reasons for writing each book?
In high school. I became interested in 80s action movies, and comics. I began to create my own stories. I wanted to entertain. Then life got in the way. With a new family, my dreams were put on hiatus, and I had to get an immediate job. After 21 years in the sales business with various companies, I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes and lost much of my sight. My initial dream dissolved.
After I had to get a kidney transplant, I couldn’t work anymore. Since now I’m on disability, I still wanted to work. Although it was difficult to see clearly, My dream came back. It had been slightly augmented, but it came back.
I began to write my first to alleviate my boredom. Daytime TV never jogged my mind. I couldn’t drive anymore, but my imagination wasn’t damaged. I rekindled my first high school story, just modified for the time. I wrote it, not drawing it.
I became a fiction author with 15 original stories as of now with number 16 on the way. My mantra is “Your dreams don’t have an expiration date.”

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I became interested initially in science fiction writing. Then I just expanded to plain fiction. You can go anywhere and do anything in fiction
Do you like to create books for adults, youth and/or children? and Why?
My initial interest was to entertain young adults to adults. Since my stories were too complex for children, I didn’t explore that genre. I don’t delve into “Adult” books either. My books are imbued with romance, not lascivious lust. I want to entertain mentally.
How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
I’m on book number 16 now. I think my favorite book will always be my next book.
How long does it take you to write a book?
Since I’m a self-published author, I do it all. I advertise, manage my blog, and train VAs. After all that, I write. I have an outline system to accelerate my writing. It takes me about three months to finish my first draft. It may take another month to get it ready for edit, and when the book is completed. I’ll publish it.
sc-shortcode-cleaner-clean-content-end–><!–sc-shortcode-cleaner-clean-content-start
Could you describe the mundane details of writing: How many hours a day to you devote to writing? Do you write a draft on paper or at a keyboard (typewriter or computer)?
My system is this. First, I get a question. If it’s a good question, I craft a story out of it. I type my outline and begin to create the initial shell of the book. When you do this, writing can be quicker. You outline each chapter and follow your outline. It kills writer’s block.
I at least write for an hour every day. When my story gets going, it takes over. I could write an entire chapter in a day if it gets good. I use Word, and it helps with the formatting.
What does your family think of your writing?
I have a great family. I am single now, but my parents respect my endeavors.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
I read when I’m not creating. I also watch movies. I just write or market all the time. I’ll relax when I become successful.
What do you think makes a good story?
A good story consists of overcoming a very difficult devastation. You need a good protagonist with depth and an equally deep antagonist. You must be able to flesh out your character to have your reader invest in your characters, emotional elements, pacing, intrigue, comedy, and feeling.
sc-shortcode-cleaner-clean-content-end–><!–sc-shortcode-cleaner-clean-content-start
What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating/writing your books?
I had to cease the Superman caricature. In order to flesh out tour character, they have to have flaws. I learned that from Stan Lee. Daredevil’s blind and Tony Stark is an alcoholic. You still love them, but they aren’t perfect.
What authors do you like to read? What book or books have had a strong influence on you or your writing?
I read Stephen King books, Phillip Kindred Dick books. Issac Asimov books, Authur Charles Clark, and Clive Barker books.
Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
I have a blog. www.pimiebooks.com I post all my books there and do a weekly newsletter. Some of my readers write to me in mid-writing after I post an excerpt. They tell me what they want to read. My books are designed for them.
Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
I read non-fiction books and watch the news. Certain entertainment influences me. I use Wikipedia for some information gathering backed up with the library.
Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they
My first suggestion is to never give up. King has a collection of rejection letters. He never gave up, and I think we are all better off for his tenacity. Have a great work ethic. If you do fiction, train your imagination. Don’t have it become unbridled without discipline. Once you have harnessed those elements, research, and write your book. And the most important advice is to LEARN THE BUSINESS! You could have the greatest book in the world, but if no one knows about it, your book will e the greatest eBook collecting digital dust on a virtual shelf.
Do you meet your readers at book signings, conventions, or similar events?
I interact with my readers virtually. Since my sight is imparted, transportation is very difficult.

What’s more important: characters or plot?
You must balance the two elements. In order for your audience to have a great experience, they have to care about the character, and they must be put in an interesting situation. What you’re asking is what is more important in chicken soup, the chicken or the soup? Both elements make great chicken soup.
sc-shortcode-cleaner-clean-content-end–><!–sc-shortcode-cleaner-clean-content-start
How do books get published?
After you create your final product, you publish it on Amazon.
Do you write every single day?
When you write, you have to practice. Just like a workout regiment, you need a writing regiment. I do at least 20 minutes a day. That’s when I’m on book hiatus. I write way longer when I craft my stories.
Ballpoint, uniball or fountain pen?
Laptop 🙂
Any writing rituals?
I listen to music to set my mood. Gustav Holst for a majestic battle scene, Metalica or NIN for a scary scene, Bjork, or Sade for a romantic scene. My music influences my feeling.
What’s the worst job you’ve had?
Trying to sell perfume door to door.
Tell us some more about your book/s.
I’m 47 years old, and I’ve been telling my stories since high school. My stories stemmed from my comic book and anime interests. I always wanted to escape the purgatory of math and home etc.
I think I became proficient at quelling my boredom. I learned a lot, but not the mandatory curriculum.
Oh, don’t get me wrong. I know the basics. I’m talking about knowing who Michael Moorcock, Issac Asimov, Stephen King, Phillip K. Dick, Clive Barker, Michael Crihcton, Gary Gygax, George Perez and John Byrne were. Those people shaped my interests.
{I‘m not embarrassed, but my mom made me watch Dynasty in the ’80s. I thought it was plastic drivel, but that shaped my interests in romance, and how not to create it.
Reading, and going to the movies was my happiness. I like happiness, and according to life, I think you enjoy happiness as well. That’s why I write fiction.
Are you planning to adapt any of your stories to the screen?
I have no plans, but as I always say. If someone affluent in cinema wants to adapt my stories, have at it.

How hard is it to establish and maintain a career in writing?
If you just want to do it with no knowledge of the industry, it’s impossible to archive your goal. Do this in Sun Tsu terms. Know your enemy in order to defeat your enemy. There are 41,000 new pieces of medium being published every day. Just make your strategy and work good enough to be in the upper tier of that 41,000. Most authors never take the time to learn how to compartmentalize to whittle down the daunting number. This shouldn’t be just a hobby. About 35,000 authors think that. If you treat this like your business. your number dwindles. Remember, success isn’t a destination, it’s a never-ending journey.
Any last thoughts for our readers?
I’ve been doing this since 2007. My first eBook was published in 2008. I thought that was my only story. I was wrong. I continued in 2014. Now I’m up to 15 with a 16th on the way.
No digital book is over $2-99 and one is even free so you can dip your toes before you cannonball into my pool of adventure. Thank you for giving me a chance. Kyle.
