Describe yourself in five words

Thinker, Spiritual, Wise, Storyteller, Philosopher

What fact about yourself would really surprise people?

How focused I am.

How do you work through self-doubts and fear?

I meditate, exercise, disconnect frequently (going off-grid) as well as write down my thoughts. It helps me look at what is real and what is only being amplified by my mind.

What bothers you the most?

Clutter, be it in a physical space or in my mind. It scares me a lot.

What makes you happiest?

Minimalism, coffee, a good book, and meaningful conversation.

 Why do you write?

Because it is my way of bringing about an impactful change in the society.

 Have you always enjoyed writing?

No, but I have come to welcome it as a way to share my journey.

What motivates you to write?

The fact that people across the world read my works and it shapes them, shapes their ideas and their thoughts to a limited extent. My hope is that through my works, they may push people to understand themselves and the world around them better.

What writing are you most proud of?

All three of my released books.

What do you hope your obituary will say about you?

Here lies a wonderful husband, devoted dad, and loyal friend and comrade. He has completed what he was put on this earth to do God’s will. Now, he is liberated!

What is hardest – getting published, writing or marketing?

All 3. Marketing – you need money. Publishing – you need an agent. Writing – you need exceptional creativity for structuring.

 What marketing works for you?

None as of yet. I need to acquire capital to create a strategy and budgets.

Do you find it hard to share your work?

Not at all. In fact, I embrace my work through all platforms, even giving them away to people who can’t afford my works but yet still want to read my books and all I ask in return is for them to share my work with other people and help encourage me through social media or word of mouth.

Is your family supportive? Do your friends support you?

My family is supportive. I am for the most part alone warrior (at least I don’t meet anyone on a regular basis.) But those who know me ex-roommates, close friends, ex-teachers have been very supportive.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

Too many to list.

How do you write – laptop, pen, paper, in bed, at a desk?

Longhand (all day), then laptop. Anywhere inspiration strikes.

Is there anyone you’d like to acknowledge and thank for their support?

Bloggers, fans, people who read my books, my editors and of course, my family.

Every writer has their own idea of what a successful career in writing is, what does success in writing look like to you?

When people know your name, sales come as a result.

If you could have a dinner party and invite anyone dead or alive, who would you ask?

My top 5 Impactful Individuals (In no particular order) that I would have liked to meet would be…

  • Jesus Christ
  • Aristotle
  • Peter Crone
  • Martin Luther
  • Russel Brand

What do you hope people will take away from your writing? How will your words make them feel?

To smile, to be brave, to change and to follow their hearts .. To remember, words and books can impact you, even subconsciously.

Also by Fabian Alexander Ortega…

What do you consider your greatest success in life? What would be your greatest failure, and what did you learn from it?

My greatest success is subjective, as with all success there is controversy.

As for failures, I don’t believe in failures – but if I had to call something a failure, it would be that feeling of regret an not investing in myself, remember “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take as well”– I believe in believing in myself, and finding wisdom through the bad times – and the power of God’s purpose for you. That is what I have learned, through my trials and tribulations – we have to gain wisdom, and not be swallowed by ignorance.
