We had a great time learning more about Author Jamila Jordan Moody, read on to learn interesting and fun facts about the author.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I like to write alone in an open area where there’s nothing but quiet and a beautiful view of the mountains or outdoor areas. I also like to have my journals and books all around because I like to handwrite everything before I actually do work on my computer.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

When I’m not writing, I like to sing, spend time with my family and most important of all spend time sitting in silence in worship before the LORD or just listening.

When did you write your first book and how old were you?

Before the Throne is my first book and I began work on it in 2008 and picked it up in 2016 to complete it.

What does your family think of your writing?

My family has been extremely supportive about my writing and believe it is a true gift and talent I have. They are the ones who pushed me the most (especially my husband and my daughter) to write and pursue this assignment that is also a personal passion and childhood dream come true to now be a published author.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

The most surprising thing I learning in creating my book was how peaceful the process was and how strong my faith was. I learned about my own strength and my ability to overcome obstacles and trials. It was a beautiful experience.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

Since writing my first book, I have completed 3 books that I expect to be published between the Summer of this year and the first of 2019. I also have a book collaboration with 3 other authors being published this year and I have writings I contributed to a devotional being published by Spirit Fuel (spiritfuel.me) this year as well.

Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they

My encouragement to you or anyone desiring to become a writer would be to pursue it with passion. If you’re passionate about writing and you know it’s something you’ve been called to do or you just love it – throw you heart and your faith into. I was hesitant to write because of not being well known but that doesn’t matter. What matters is your passion and the story you have to tell. And if you’re carrying a ministry assignment as I believe my books are – pursue your writing with faith that GOD will cause those who need the message will be drawn to the message you have whether you’re known or not. Write! And write with passion. Write with faith and keep writing no matter the obstacle, set back or frustration. Write.

Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?

I hear often from those who’ve read my book. I receive testimonies of how it’s changed their life. Here are just a few testimonies that I’ve received

“I used to worry about what others thought when I worshipped, now I’m free. I don’t worry about what others are thinking I just praise GOD with all I have,” Tucker

“When I received your book, I couldn’t stop reading it. It is so anointed. I am reading it again. Thank you for this awesome book,” Chantel

Do you like to create books for adults or children…Why?

I like to create books for all ages. Before the Throne was written for adults because at the time I wrote it, that was my target audience was adults between the ages of 18 and older seeking to either enhance their worship life, draw closer to the FATHER and become more acquainted with the various aspects of worship other than the artistic expression of worship like music, song and dance. I however would love to write a book about worship and the importance of having a close relationship for children, adolescents and teens in the near future.

What do you think makes a good story?

It depends on the story you are telling. Since the book I work was a non-fiction book that focuses on Christian living – I believe passion and truth must be present. In my book, I was honest and transparent with my readers about personal struggles and triumphs. I shared the truth of GOD’S word while making sure to teach and share more in depth a point I felt strongly needed to be emphasized. And most of all the subject matter is something I’m passionate about. And in any story whether it be fiction or non-fiction passion must be present. And I believe when you have passion and honesty as a base it will help you write more freely, it will help you develop characters more purely and be true to what you are writing without fear.

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?

As a child I dreamed of many things, being a singer because I sing, I thought about being an astronaut but my greatest dream was to be a published author. As a child, I wrote constantly. I wrote poems, songs and letters to GOD in particular often. Writing was how I expressed myself and it was my way of coping with the pain of many rough patches in my childhood. My life has taken many turns but I still have a burning passion to write and what makes writing for me even more amazing now is I get to write for the GLORY of GOD!

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I knew when I was kid

How long does it take you to write this books?

Recently it’s not taken me that long because I have tons journals filled with study notes, ideas and such from my personal time of study and prayer. Once I pulled all my notes together it took me about 7 weeks to get my first book completed.

What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?

My work schedule when I’m writing varies because I work a full-time job from 8-4:30 so I write when I am able to around my work schedule. Most often though I am up in the mornings between 4-6 praying and writing.

What brought you to write this book series?

Obedience to fulfill the call of GOD upon my life brought me to write this book that has now become a series. I believe I have a message to share and it is my faith in the purpose I have that pushes me to write.

How you become a published author? Any inspiration?

I became a published author through securing the services of a publishing servicer Dr. Kisia Coleman (KishKnows.com). I self-published so her team helped me with the design of my cover, editing and coaching. They were a huge help to me during the process. They handled the whole process from getting the ISBN number, setting my book up through ingramspark.com and all. It was an awesome experience that I would certainly do all over again.

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?

I get my information and ideas from my personal worship experiences, ministry needs, needs of those that are broken and my personal time in prayer and studying the word.

What’s next for you? What are you working on now?

Currently I am busy establishing Throne Room University. It is a school of worship that came about as a result of my personal worship experiences and an assignment to teach and train others in the area of worship and its various aspects. It is a different type of worship school that focuses on personal growth, healing and other aspects of life that can be a hindrance and a barrier to developing a strong relationship with GOD and others.

I am also working on a prophetic worship journal and devotional that’s a companion book to my first book Before the Throne.
